A new academic year has dawned at the KATHA IT and E-Commerce School (KITES) – an undertaking that provides IT opportunities to youths from undeserved communities of Delhi and Noida to enhance their opportunities of receiving gainful employment – and with it, the commitment to help those from Delhi’s disadvantaged communities has only grown stronger. Over the past month, our team has been out in the communities of Sangam Vihar, Govindpuri, and Tughlakabad not just to campaign, but to connect with and understand the people who live there. The center aims to upskill young people, giving them a chance at a brighter future.
Capabilities are unlimited, but opportunities are scarce. That is why we offer certified courses in IT training, entrepreneurship, and vocational skills, along with placement opportunities in respected companies such as Café Coffee Day, Aircon, Airtel, Amazon, Apollo Hospitals, and many more. By uplifting the youth, we hope the entire community will rise with them.
Every April, at the start of the academic year, our facilitators set out into these communities under the sweltering sun, going door-to-door through narrow lanes, entering small homes with the aim of creating big changes, one family at a time. They are driven by the goal of enrolling at least 2,000 girls into the program this year, backed by results that prove the success of graduating from KITES.
We show families the doors that could be opened with this one choice, and how it can forever change their lives and reveal new horizons. We speak to them about the opportunities that come with technical education, and how KITES is more than just a program. It is a pathway to independence, confidence, and financial stability.
For many girls, this is the first step toward a future they hadn’t dared to imagine. Each visit plants a seed of hope. With every conversation, families begin to see new possibilities for their daughters. This is how change begins.
