| The main vision
of Katha is to make teachers imaginative, fun
loving, curious, creative, capable of critical
thinking, competent, confident and committed,
caring, culture-conscious and cooperative.
Katha basically aims at its Teachers Training
Workshop to provide sound and relevant curricula
that emphasizes lifelong learning skills and
entrepreneurship in students, knowing how
to research and create quality teaching material,
constant striving for interesting and creative
pedagogy, invoking the interest of the parents,
the family and the community, their involvement
and active participation.
The purpose of this Teacher Training Workshop
is to help teachers to rededicate themselves
to the idea of excellence and creativity that
are the bedrock of education. The objective
this training is to assist teachers to find
ways to turn the individual dreams and aspirations
of their students into reality, to lead them
towards the understanding of leadership and
entrepreneurship, and developing in them ability
of conflict resolution and mediation so as
to pass these necessary skills on to their
students.
Through our rich experience in the field
and many institutions contacting us for the
taining programmes we have replicated our
modules and categorized the same into three
levels:

I. Basic Course:--
Teacher is the link between the text and students.
Each teacher is capable of converting the
black and white text of the books to more
creative and interesting material through
his own creative expression and use of story.
This phase focuses on developing the inherent
strength of the individual in the role of
the teacher, to look at the teacher as a performer.
An introduction to Teaching Learning material
is given at this stage along with the effective
utilisation of available resources, which
can supplement the teacher's strengths. Development
of Teaching Learning material is an intense
process, which starts from questioning the
very need for education. If this step is worked
out properly in detail then the follow up
become simpler automatically. These course
aims at instilling in the trainers the philosophy
of child centred education-developing the
curriculum and syllabus in lieu with the needs
of the target population.
II. Intermediate course:--
This level is based on the alternative teaching
styles. Various creative, interactive pedagogies
are shared with hands on experience for the
participants. Delhi based participants will
be exposed to the teaching methodologies being
implemented in our hub-centre at Govindpuri
. Life skill development forms an integral
part of this phase
III. Advanced course:--
Caters to all the senses, giving food for
thought, charging up the trainers to create
a snow ball effect in return. Completely taking
them by surprise this phase attempts to look
at the writings, works, experiments in the
field of education-theme based injected modules
and co-operatives and evaluation ruberics,
putting systems into place will become much
simpler after this!
