A boy called Azharuddin, from the slums of Govindpuri, took admission in Hulgulwadi in Katha in 2008. At the time of admission it was not known that he had been suffering from hearing and speech impairment. Fortunately, an attentive and alert class teacher noticed these problems in him and promptly brought it to the notice of the school authority. She also started giving special attention and support to the boy.
Recently, Katha arranged for a health check-up programme by AIIMS doctors, for all the students of Katha. With the sincere support from Group of Friends Club (GOFC), we managed to get the Hearing Aid for Azharuddin, son of Shaukat, the child diagnosed with severe hearing disability during the Health Camp run by the Group of Friends Club at Katha, on October 11, 2011.
He was brought to AIIMS for several rounds of tests and ordering of the hearing aid and finally received hearing aids of the best wireless variety for both ears. The sum of Rs 24,000/- for this purpose was donated by GOFC members. Azharuddin is now able to hear properly and is thus responding well the class instruction and activities. Azharuddin is pleased with his new-found improved aural sense.
We are thankful to the Group of Friends Club for bringing this notable change to Azharuddin’s life!
