Key skills required

  • A keen sense of story and storytelling and a flair for writing
  • Good exposure to literary styles, genres and writers across Indian and international languages
  • Excellent command over idiomatic/literary written English
  • Sound knowledge of grammar and contemporary usage
  • Able to visualize and implement innovative editorial projects/books
  • Resourceful; be a keen-eyed scout of talent
  • A  keen sense of illustration and design for our children’s books
  • Well versed in Internet and computers
  • The ability to work in a 24×7 environment, when necessary

Responsibilities

Picture books, Children’s books in translation. Media launches/Workshops, Clubs. Support sales & direct marketing teams. Monthly Planning & Reporting. Team supervision. Research. Internet updates of new books and related items.

Experience: 2 -5 years

Functional Area: Content Writing, Book Publishing

Educational Qualifications: UG/PG in English Literature

Designation: Head, Kala Nivas

  • Support Katha’s team for trade, direct and international marketing
  • Plan, Build, grow, and promote our books through below-the-line marketing strategies
  • Build profitable relationships with corporate and other trading partners
  • Develop strategies for maximising sustainable income from multiple sources in the long-term; lead the organization into the next phase of development
  • Play a key role in the strategic leadership and operational management of Katha, contributing to its overall direction and enabling us to achieve our ambitious goals
  • Be a seasoned consensus builder, managing and motivating dispersed team
  • Be resourceful; a keen-eyed scout for fresh sales outlets and opportunities
  • Develop relationships with the corporate and public sectors, the government and other organisations.
  • Have the ability to work with our accounts team to build quarterly and annual financial stretch targets, and report on these
  • Handle the internet and computers with ease; good working knowledge of Excel and Tally 9.0 desired
  • Be able to visualize and implement innovative book campaigns, link these to fundraising events

You must have

  • A flair for working with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to empower them towards gaining employment in sales and marketing
  • The ability to meet clients and distributors; be able to collect on payments due

    Industry Type: Sales and marketing
    Functional Area: Book sales, trade marketing, channel and direct marketing, international sales.
    Education: MBA in Marketing desired and/or with rich experience and entrepreneurship in marketing books.
    Location: Delhi NCR, South, West and East.

Designation: Head, Fundraising/ Fundraising Manager

A challenging and highly rewarding position, you will play a hugely varied role, with an opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives in India through both leading edge publishing and working in education and pro-poor initiatives.

Should have the ability to

  • Plan, build, grow, and promote our projects
  • Play a key role in the strategic leadership and operational management of Katha
  • Be a seasoned consensus builder, managing and motivating dispersed teams and developing highly effective volunteer services
  • Be resourceful and a keen-eyed scout of fundraising opportunities
  • Develop relationships with corporate, public sector, government and international/ donor agencies
  • Work with our accounts team to build quarterly and annual financial budgets and reports
  • Handle the internet and computers with ease; good working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel and PageMaker is a must
  • Visualize and implement innovative capital campaigns, fundraising events
  • Keep track of media stories/developments; meet deadlines

You must have

  • The ability to visualize project priorities and implement funding initiatives
  • A flair for writing good copy; good exposure to crisp journalistic writing
  • Good command over idiomatic spoken English and Hindi
  • The ability to work in a 24×7 environment, when necessary.
    Experience: 1 – 3 Years.
    Industry Type: Fundraising, Functional Area fundraising, social marketing.
    Education: UG – any discipline. We also like people with only a school-leaving certificate but with rich experience and entrepreneurship in marketing books.
