Shadow Puppet Workshop

Katha presents Shadow puppet workshop for children by the noted puppeteer Anurupa Roy

 

Create your visual stories, do your own voice over, like a movie without a camera on a shadow screen. Create shadow puppets using simple things like cardboard and plastic which look like magic, write scripts, learn to storyboard, make negative and positive shadows that looks mysterious and magical. Enter the world of light and shade, storytelling and voice over with the shadow puppet workshop.

 

This workshop will culminate into a Shadow Puppet Show at the India Habitat Centre on 6th June.

Vedic Mathematics Workshop

 

 

 Katha presents Vedic Mathematics Workshop for children by Math Whiz, Mr Krishnan Dharmarajan.

 

Math workshop for students who say, “I hate maths!” Fun all the way, it promises to introduce students to some basic as well as complicated math, the “Vedic way.”  Your children will learn High Speed Multiplication, Fast Division, Squares and Cubes in the workshop at Katha.

The workshop:
To be held in the last week of July 2009, this workshop will showcase best practices in early childhood learning and development across the world through discussions, unique thought leaders’ forum and sharing of hands-on experiences.

This two-and-a-half day conference will provide an excellent opportunity for those working in the area to come together and explore recent developments, researches and innovative work which has taken place in this field.

Some of the topics which will be covered:

  • Understanding the need for early childhood care and education.
  • The developmental domains — cognitive, language, socio-emotional, physical, moral.
  • Working with children with special needs.
  • Understanding early childhood care and education — a global perspective.
  • Children, curriculum, communities.
  • Early childhood care and education in different contexts

Abstracts and papers:

We invite abstracts and papers with a variety of interpretations and perspectives on early childhood care and education from different disciplines.

  • Papers are invited in English as well as Hindi.
  • Abstracts should not be more than 300 words.
  • Last date for submission:  May 31, 2009.
  • All abstracts should be sent along with a duly filled paper submission form to
    research1@katha.org.

Description: Michael Patrick MacDonald (born March 9, 1966) is an Irish-American activist against crime and violence and author of his memoir, All Souls: A Family Story From Southie. He was born in South Boston, Massachusetts in 1966.

He would speak on topics like “Role of storytelling in shaping our lives” and “Shaping the narrative of our life stories”.

MacDonald would interact with the students and teachers of Kathashala (A school run by Katha for the underprivileged)
