for equity network
KTEN addresses the problem of equity in access to knowledge and
education for our country’s
underprivileged children, studying in secondary and post-secondary
educational institutions, and seeks to empower them with the
tools and skills necessary for them to realize their true potential.
It pledges to help them take full advantage of the increased job opportunities
of a knowledge-based globalizing economy.
Aiming to impact the lives of 100 million Indians in the 15-25 year age group,
KTEN is designed to promote economically disadvantaged students in non-English
medium institutions, so as to eventually create a level playing field for all,
by
• Increasing their knowledge base through open access to seminal essays/texts
translated into the bhasha each student is comfortable in.
• Improving their English reading, writing and comprehension skills in
systematic, innovative ways, to enable competent and creative expression and
better communication.
• And to achieve these ends, catalyzing mass collaboration, through the
Internet, among teachers, students and resource persons across
India.
