the profit-for-all nonprofit organization working in education, translation
and culture, is looking for PEOPLE! We have been working with children
and women since 1990, and have strong links with the 54 communities we
work with. Katha also works at the leading edge in literary translation

EDITORIAL Katha’s editors are committed to bringing
out the highest quality of literature from 21 Indian languages, combining
great stories with sound translation, style and immaculate grammar, while
working according to deadlines and as a team.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a sense
for story, a flair for writing and contemporary use of language,
with excellent command over idiomatic/literary written English,
as well as good exposure to literary styles, genres and writers
across Indian and international languages. They should be
able to visualize and implement innovative editorial projects/books,
and should be resourceful in terms of scouting talent. We
also look for people who have a keen sense of illustration and design,
for our children’s books. Proficiency in computer usage
is required.

FINANCE & ACCOUNTS We have
a dedicated team that works on the preparation of budgets
and financials for donors, reconciliations, balance sheets,
MIS. In addition, they ensure statutory compliances, work
with auditors and liaise with all external parties to ensure
smooth financial transactions for the organization.
Qualifications: Applicants should
have some experience of working in an NGO, as well as practical
knowledge of accounting concepts. They should be comfortable
working on computers, with proficiency in Tally, and should
have experience in all MIS. We look for people who have
excellent communication skills and can work with a team.

FUNDRAISING As a fundraiser at Katha, you
will be expected to plan, build, expand and promote our
projects. Your work will also include building and maintaining
profitable relationships with the corporate and public sectors,
the government and national and international donor agencies.
Our Fundraising team is involved in the strategic leadership
and operational management of Katha, and works with the
Accounts department to build quarterly and annual financial
stretch targets and reports.
Qualifications: We look for people who are
resourceful and can sense good opportunities for fundraising.
Applicants must be able to handle the Internet and computers
with ease, and must have working knowledge of Powerpoint,
Word, Excel and PageMaker. We look for people with excellent
communication skills, who are able to visualize and implement
innovative capital campaigns and fundraising events.

level with experience in fundraising.

SALES & MARKETING You will
be working in the areas of trade and direct
and international marketing. You will be
expected to plan and build below-the-line marketing strategies
for the promotion of Katha’s books. Your work will
also include building and maintaining profitable
relationships with the corporate and public sectors,
the government and other trading partners. In addition
to developing strategies to maximize sustainable income,
you will be involved in the strategic leadership and
operational management of Katha, and will work with the
Accounts department to build quarterly and annual financial
stretch targets and reports. We also look for those with
a flair for working with young people from disadvantaged
backgrounds to empower them towards gaining employment
in sales and marketing.
Qualifications: Applicants should be resourceful and
able to sense opportunities for profitable ventures. We appreciate
creative thinking and an ability to visualize and implement innovative
book campaigns, and link these to fundraising opportunities. Applicants
should have the ability to meet clients and distributors, and must be proficient
users of the Internet and computers, with working knowledge of Excel and
Tally 9.0.

DTP DESIGNING A DTP designer at Katha works
with multiple computer-design applications, and is responsible
for correct software usage, fonts, book-folder, book design,
style, layout, structure, file-naming conventions, templates
and grids, CMYK and text-layer elements and checking and
correcting images and digital artworks. Additionally, a DTP
professional must check, prepare and supply files for final
delivery and production.
Qualifications: Proficiency in computer-design applications
such as CorelDraw, PageMaker, Dreamweaver, Plone, InDesign,
QuarkXPress, Photoshop and Illustrator.
